Masonry horizontal Injections
Restoring horizontal waterproofing is a key repair technique used to stop capillary moisture from rising from the ground. It is performed in existing structures where the original waterproofing has deteriorated or was never installed in the first place. A properly installed moisture barrier allows for the permanent drying of walls, protects the structure from deterioration, and enables the effective completion of further renovation work.
What is capillary action?
It is a physical process in which water is drawn upward from the ground through microscopic pores (capillaries) present in building materials such as brick, stone, or mineral mortars.
The main causes of moisture in walls:
Lack of original horizontal waterproofing, natural deterioration of old materials (e.g., roofing felt, bitumen mastic), mechanical damage to the foundations, construction defects, and a rise in the groundwater level around the building.
Low-pressure method
In the low-pressure method, an accurate assessment of the degree of moisture and the thickness of the masonry is a key factor in selecting the diameter and spacing of the holes, as well as the appropriate method for applying the treatment. In this case, the material is injected using low-pressure pumps (e.g., IZOPRESS 500) at the appropriate pressure, which reduces the time required for the work and ensures thorough penetration even in heavily damp walls.
Selection of grouting materials
In horizontal masonry waterproofing technology, products with strong water-repellent properties are used, selected based on the condition and structure of the masonry:
- Silicates and silicone-siloxane fluids
- Injection creams
